Do you go on vacation and not allow yourself to “vacate”? Have you ever gone on vacation and had so much packed in your schedule that you hardly had time to take in everything and absorb what your experience was? That’s normally how I am, and I feel like I need a vacation after my vacation, because I try to jam so much in, in such a short period of time.
This past vacation was very different for me because I took the time to relax and shut my mind off and not worry about what’s next on the agenda. During this time of stillness, while sitting on the beach, gratitude came to mind. I took this time to reflect on all that I am grateful for. One thing that came up was that I am very grateful for my committed massage clients that see massage as a healthy part of their lifestyle and not just an indulgence. I really enjoy working with them on a consistent basis and love to see the great benefits they are receiving. Without them, I would not have a thriving massage practice.
Most of what makes my practice so special is working in a setting like The Still Point, which I am also grateful for. The wealth of information I receive on a daily basis from my colleagues is invaluable. The space allows me to make my own schedule and connect with other healthcare professionals that enrich my knowledge. There were a few other things that came up as well, like the continued love and support from friends and family. After going over my list and really letting it sink in, I felt a sense of joy and happiness.
With so much hustle and bustle and craziness going on in the world, I feel like things aren’t so bad afterall. I’m committed to getting a gratitude journal, and listing at least one thing I’m grateful for each day. Hopefully, you can make a list of things you are grateful for and see how your world changes. Be well! Brigitte
