I often tell my clients to take time out for themselves, even if it’s just 15-30 minutes per day. I need to listen to my own advice and take time to get more bodywork. As Massage Therapists, we probably need more bodywork than most because our work is so physical and can be taxing.
I used to get bodywork often, but it seems that I’ve neglected myself lately. I was reminded of this recently by a colleague, so I scheduled a Reiki session with Nikki, one of the newest practitioners at The Still Point. Reiki is energy work and although it’s not manipulation of the muscle tissue, it is very beneficial for the body. During the session, I was able to let go and allow my body to go into a relaxed state. After the session, my head felt lighter and I was calm and at ease. Thanks Nikki, I appreciate you!
This is my reminder for you to take some time for yourself. It can be as simple as going outside and walking around the block to get some fresh air. Put yourself first and do something that makes you feel good.
Be Well!
