There is something extra special about honey. Yes it is a great way to sweeten your tea, or soothe a sore throat, but it is wonderful to use on your skin as well. Yes, that’s right. The sticky stuff is good for your face!
Honey is a natural anti-microbial. It inhibits the growth of bacteria and fights bacteria that is present. It is a great acne treatment:
1) Cleanse the affected area with the appropriate cleanser and pat dry.
2) Apply honey to the skin. Use your fingers because this helps warm the honey making it spreadable, and hey, you can lick it off when you’re done!
3) Let the honey stay on the face for 10 to 15 minutes.
4) Rinse with warm water followed by a splash of cool water to close the pores.
5) Finally, apply your favorite moisturizer.
Another reason honey works so great for acne is because it allows the skin to be moist. This helps the healing process and prevents scarring. You want to dry out the bacteria, but you don’t want to dry your skin.
Don’t think that just because you don’t have acne, you are left out of all the fun. Everyone can use honey! If you have dry skin, honey is great because it is a natural humectant. Hume…huh?? Humectants elevate hydration levels in the skin. Honey helps to attract moisture to the skin cells, and binds it there. This is valuable because it makes the skin very soft and supple. You’ll be glowing in no time…well, in 15 minutes, but you know what I mean.
Another awesome thing about honey is that it is packed with anti-oxidants. Why is that important? Because anti-oxidants are what keep you looking young by helping with the growth of new skin cells. If your cells are healthy, then your skin will be healthy too. Anti-oxidants repair damaged skin cells that cause signs of aging and sun damage. Honey that is darker has more anti-oxidants, but all honey works just fine.
Now go grab a teaspoon of honey for your tea and another one for your face! You’ll feel as beautiful as a flower. You never know, it might be the same flower your honey came from!
