Our bodies have an innate ability to naturally balance and heal. If you’ve had a traumatic experience, whether physical or emotional, your body may adapt and allow you to continue to function, but it still has a memory of that experience. At some point your body may not able to adapt and may want to bring that experience to the surface. At this point you may experience pain and discomfort in some parts of your body, not necessarily in the area of the trauma or injury. This may be something that happened years ago, but when pain resurfaces, it forces you to deal with old trauma. CranioSacral Therapy (CST) can help during this process.
CST works on the craniosacral system, which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid along your spinal column. During a CST session, your body can go into a still point, which I call a calmness within. The ‘calmness’ is a pause in the craniosacral pulse which strengthens the central nervous system and allows the craniosacral system to stop or reset itself.
This non-invasive form of bodywork directly influences the head, brain and spinal cord. It is used to find and release areas of restriction, re-educate old holding patterns, and calm over-stressed areas of the body. The primary goal is to restore the natural rhythmic movement found between the bones of the skull and the sacrum. The purpose of this is to aid the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system, hence bringing balance to all systems of the body. By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used to help with old traumas and as a preventive health measure. It is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
Migraine Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Chronic Fatigue
Emotional Difficulties
Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Surgical Dysfunction
During the session the client lies (fully clothed) on a cushioned treatment table. The assessment phase of the treatment includes a verbal intake, followed by gentle palpation of the tissues for restrictions. The treatment phase of the session includes very gentle manipulation of the cranial sacral system to bring about deep relaxation and calmness.
Come in for a CranioSacral Therapy session a find your calmness within.
Be Well!
