About a week ago, I was giving an Astrology reading to the fiancé of an old friend of mine from high school. As my friend and her husband-to-be listened to my chart interpretation, both gave praise for its accuracy, and I was grateful for their kind words. It was noted that every astrological chart is different, and thus, every reading is different. I explained that I was only describing the details of what was already written in the stars on the day her fiancé was born, and referred to myself as, ‘The Chart Whisperer.’ This nickname was catchy and we laughed, but it was also fairly applicable.
I often say that we are never just our Sun sign. On the day we are born, ALL of the planets are aligned in certain constellations that represent the signs of the Zodiac. The signs the planets occupied on our birthday, together, make up our astrological birth chart. The birth chart – a map of these planetary placements – is essentially our cosmic DNA. Our entire birth chart is what separates us as individuals, and not just the Sun. No two people share the same birth chart, unless born on the exact same day, at the exact same time, in the exact same location.
The celestial bodies found in our solar system, carry with them a specific role and unique energy. Some of them are symbolic of the gods and goddesses found in Greek and Roman mythology. The personalities of the Zodiac signs are also attributed to various characters from myth; they have been ascribed certain traits that give meaning to our individual Sun sign. The planets make daily connections to each other, while the signs of the Zodiac form relationships that can be congenial or challenging.
When you combine the different aspects involved between planet and sign, an interpretation can be derived for what it means to have. For example, your Sun in the sign of Scorpio oppose your Venus in the sign of Taurus. Of course, interpretation requires years of Astrological study and practice. But anyone can become their own Astrologer. Given the right tools and knowledge, you can predict the energy coming down the pike, as well as speculate how it may unfold in your life.
Astrological chart readings can be highly informative. While I personally believe we are all capable of deep inner awareness, it doesn’t hurt to have newly discovered psychological insights, reaffirmed by the activities of the stars and planets in our Universe. Skepticism aside, there really is something to the art of astrological interpretation.
